Dr. DJ Patil is a Data Scientist in Residence at Greylock Partners. Previously he was the Chief Product Officer at Color as well as the Chief Scientist and led the Analytics and Data Teams at the LinkedIn Corporation. Previous to LinkedIn, Dr. Patil was a Distinguished Research Scientist and the Director for Strategy, Product, and Analytics of Corporate Architecture at eBay Inc. He received a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego and a Doctorate in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland in the top-ranked applied nonlinear dynamics and chaos group.
As an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow for the Department of Defense, Dr. Patil directed new efforts to leverage social network analysis and the melding of computational and social sciences to anticipate emerging threats to the US. He also co-chaired a major review of US efforts to prevent bioweapons proliferation in Central Asia and co-founded the Iraqi Virtual Science Library (IVSL).
Nir brings a wealth of network security expertise and industry experience to his role as founder and CTO of Palo Alto Networks. Prior to co-founding Palo Alto Networks, Nir was CTO at NetScreen Technologies, which was acquired by Juniper Networks in 2004. Prior to NetScreen, Nir was co-founder and CTO at OneSecure, a pioneer in intrusion prevention and detection appliances. Nir was also a principal engineer at Check Point Software Technologies and was one of the developers of stateful inspection technology.
Gerhard Eschelbeck joined Sophos in 2011 as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President. He is responsible for the company's technology strategy, driving product direction and innovation. Gerhard, who holds a number of patents within information security, is one of the world's foremost experts on vulnerabilities and network security.
Most recently, he served as CTO and senior vice president at Webroot Software, where he was responsible for the development of their cloud-based technologies. Prior to Webroot, as CTO and vice president of engineering at Qualys, he helped the company achieve a leadership position in the SaaS-based vulnerability management market. Previously, he served in senior product and technology roles at companies including Network Associates and McAfee.
Gerhard has a Ph.D. in computer science from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria.
