Sumo Spotlight highlights Sumo Logic employees from around the globe. This spotlight features Todd
Hicks, Regional Director of Commercial Sales based in Denver, CO.**Describe your role at Sumo Logic**

I started my journey at Sumo Logic more than seven years ago as a Mid-Market account executive and was part
of the founding Denver team. Today I lead the Commercial South Pursuit team that is charted with new logo
acquisition and go-to-market strategies. Prior to that, I led various SDR teams across the US, focused on generating
new logo pipeline and customer acquisition. Additionally, I led the Midwest Mid-Market Sales team and the North
Mid-Market Expansion team prior to departing Sumo in early 2022.

During my Sumo tenure, I left the company briefly to explore another opportunity. While my departure only
lasted 4 months, I had time to reflect on my long term goals and aspirations in technology sales which all pointed
back to Sumo. I missed the technology, the amazing culture, and my extended family of colleagues who always pushed
me to be the best version of myself.

**What do you like most about your job and/or team?**

Honestly, what I like the most is working with all types of customers and organizations to tackle
interesting use cases. At the end of the day getting to see the value realization through their lens is exciting and
validates our technology and the market we are disrupting. From a people perspective, I’ve met some amazingly
talented people that I have developed lifetime friendships with and I continue to be amazed and proud at how
everyone is willing to help and come together to collaborate.

**What has your experience been with our company culture?**

The culture is one of the driving factors as to why I chose Sumo Logic and why I continue to make this a
place to grow my career. Being able to collaborate with people from all types of backgrounds and experiences brings
new perspectives and ways of approaching the complex problems we are looking to solve.

**What parts of our mission and/or values do you connect with?**

I would say “A Learning Culture” and “We’re in it with our Customers” resonate the most. Being able to take
on new challenges and responsibilities lends itself to a level of discomfort that ultimately has helped me grow as a
sales professional within the company. With that comes mistakes and reflection that allows for iteration and the
 ability to refine your craft.

> The relationships I have developed at Sumo Logic will go far beyond my time here and is a big reason why I love working here (and why came back).

**How do you spend time outside of Sumo Logic?**

Outside of work, the bulk of my free time is spent chasing around my two active sons and preparing for the
third addition (another boy). I love to travel, cook, and expose my sons to as much as possible while they are still
 young.

**What have been your biggest/proudest accomplishments while at Sumo Logic?**

One of the things I’m most proud of during my time at Sumo Logic is the ability to grow and take on new
responsibilities to kick start a fulfilling career. I’m also proud of having a hand in growing a remote office into
our second largest office, it’s been very fulfilling to be part of the close community of Denver Sumos.

**Name a role model or person who inspires you?**

My dad has always instilled a strong work ethic and has been one of my biggest supporters. He made a
lifetime career in tech sales and is always someone I could look for guidance and to bounce ideas. His strongest
characteristics are the ability to bring humor and his true self to any setting.

**What’s your favorite thing about working at Sumo?**

My favorite things about working here are the people, product, and growth opportunities. The relationships
I have developed at Sumo Logic will go far beyond my time here and is a big reason why I love working here (and why
I came back). I believe in our product and technology which is always evolving and presenting new learning
opportunities. Seeing my colleagues grow into new roles and take on leadership opportunities demonstrates the
investment and trust Sumo puts into its people.

**Share one thing that your coworkers don’t know about you**

I once gave a Tony Award-winning performance as Baloo the Bear in a 5th-grade disco interpretation of the
 Jungle Book
