Analyst firm [Gartner](http://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/3598917) forecasts that 8.4 billion connected things (think smartphones, refrigerators, headphones, wearable devices, etc.) will be in use worldwide in 2017, up 31 percent from 2016, and will reach 20.4 billion by 2020. This explosive growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) is causing some serious heartburn for IT and security teams, as this is also becoming the number one potential source of security breaches within organizations.

Why? These devices connect to and transfer data over a network (increasingly corporate networks) which creates security and privacy issues including data protection, passwords, etc.

Check out this latest SnapSec Chat video with Sumo Logic’s VP of Security & Compliance George Gerchow on why authentication is the first step you should take to secure IoT and protect networks and sensitive data.
