Vance Loiselle, President & CEO
As CEO, Vance brings over 20 years of IT industry experience across software, services and data center management. Vance joined Sumo Logic from BMC, where he was VP of the $200M Global Services business and VP of ESM Marketing and Sales Operations. Vance joined BMC through the $800M acquisition of BladeLogic, where he was a co-founder and VP of Operations; during his tenure at BladeLogic he also held senior management positions in sales and marketing, product management and field operations organizations. Prior to BladeLogic, Vance was Managing Director of ASP Business Operations for Breakaway Solutions, where he was responsible for defining, pricing and marketing the company's hosting and data center services. Prior to its acquisition by Breakaway, Vance led the ASP division at Eggrock Partners, which designed and built one of the first Web-based CRM solutions. Vance is credited with developing one of the first on-line trading products and is named in two patents for the first XML-based messaging platform in the travel industry. Vance spent the first five years of his career at Accenture in the Technology Practice for Financial Services. He holds a BS from Babson College.
Kumar Saurabh, Co-Founder and Vice President, Engineering
Prior to becoming a co-founder of Sumo Logic, Kumar was instrumental in designing and building the data analysis infrastructure for Mint.com (acquired by Intuit). Prior to Mint, Kumar was at ArcSight from 2001 to 2008, where as Director of Engineering he supervised teams responsible for correlation, analytics and compliance solutions deployed on ArcSight ESM and Logger products. He started out building correlation capabilities for the company’s flagship Security Event Monitoring product. Among them is a patented method that he invented to automatically mine security attacks from raw events. Kumar received his M.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University and B.S. in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur.
Christian Beedgen, Co-Founder & CTO
Christian was at ArcSight from 2001 through January 2010 most recently serving as Chief Architect for the event-based products, both ArcSight ESM and ArcSight Logger. He led development teams that owned and delivered the core of the ArcSight product line across server infrastructure and user interaction. Christian was the first server-side engineer building the ESM backend and growing the server team. He designed and implemented the core backend event handling framework along with the object-relational mapping framework. He was integral in the design and development of core product features such as a flexible framework for real-time query processing and the initial set of stream processors. Christian also co-designed and implemented a patented approach to display large result sets that change dynamically. Prior to ArcSight, he was co-founder of Gigaton, an infrastructure software company enabling distributed file management solution over IP-enabled networks.
Bruno Kurtic, Founding Vice President of Product and Strategy
Bruno joined Sumo Logic from SenSage, where he was the Vice President of Product Management. Before joining SenSage, Bruno was with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he developed and implemented growth strategies for large high-tech clients. Prior to BCG, he spent six years at webMethods where he was a Product Group Director for two product lines. At webMethods he started the west coast engineering team and played a key role in the acquisition of Active Software. He was also with Andersen Consulting's Center for Strategic Technology in Palo Alto and founded a software company that developed handwriting and voice recognition software. Bruno holds an undergraduate degree in Quantitative Methods and Computer Science from University of Saint Thomas and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Daniel Freeman, VP of Marketing
As VP of Marketing, Daniel brings over 15 years of Enterprise Software experience from various industry segments including, Internet Security, Enterprise Collaboration and Software Developer Tools. Prior to Sumo Logic, Daniel spent 6 years at the Australian software firm, Atlassian. As VP of Product Marketing, he led the company's packaging and positioning efforts across its wide product portfolio. During his tenure at Atlassian, he also held senior management positions in Sales, Customer Service, Demand Generation and General Management. Prior to Atlassian, Daniel joined Symantec, via its $250M acquisition of Brightmail Inc. As a Product Management leader, Daniel grew Symantec's email security appliance business from $0 to a $40M year business in 4 years. Daniel started his career in Product Management at Cobalt Networks and continued through its acquisition by Sun Microsystems for $1.8B. He holds a BA from Claremont McKenna College and a Masters degree from ESCP-Europe (Paris).
Rick Hasselman, VP of Finance
Rick joined Sumo Logic from Google, where he led the finance function for Google Capital. While at Google, Rick also worked in mergers and acquisitions leading several transactions including Google's acquisition of Motorola. Before joining Google, Rick was a director in PwC’s transaction services practice where he advised private equity and corporate clients. He also co-founded Fugent, a leading provider of online communication and collaboration tools to the financial services industry. Rick is a CPA and holds an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and an MBA from Emory University.
Mark Musselman, Vice President, Strategic Alliances
Mark comes to Sumo Logic with over seventeen years of Sales, Sales Management and Channel Management experience in both early stage-high growth and later-stage mature organizations. In his most recent position at BMC Software Mark was Manager for the West and prior to that led the Worldwide Go-To-Market with Cisco; while there, he grew the OEM and Sell-With business 300%. Prior to this, at BladeLogic, Mark was consistently a Top Performer helping to ramp for the IPO in 2007 and subsequent acquisition by BMC for $800M. Earlier in his career Mark held key sales positions at Internet Service Pioneers, Digex and Akamai. Mark holds a BS from Florida State University.
Joan Pepin, Vice President of Security and CISO
Joan brings over 17 years of experience to her role at Sumo Logic. She has experience in a wide variety of industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, defense, ISPs and MSSPs. Prior to Sumo Logic, Joan spent nine years with the Guardent/Verisign/Secureworks organization where she helped establish key initiatives around policy management, security metrics and incident response. A recognized expert in security policy and lifecycle management, Joan is the inventor of SecureWorks’ Anomaly Detection Engine and Event Linking technologies and is a frequent public speaker at industry events.
Jim Wilson, Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Jim Wilson is a seasoned sales executive with over twenty years experience in the Enterprise Software and High Tech Industry across markets as diverse as Business Intelligence, Collaboration, Internet Infrastructure, and Computer Aided Design. Prior to Sumo Logic Jim was a Senior Vice President at NICE Systems where he oversaw both regional and major account sales groups, while also managing the integration of an acquired company, Merced Systems, into NICE. Prior to NICE Jim ran Sales at Merced Systems, the leader in Enterprise Performance Management Software, where he grew sales from $6M to $72M over a 5-year period, which culminated in the sale of Merced Systems to NICE. Jim also has deep international experience having managed the growth of PTC in Asia, as well as managing the initial entry into Europe for Merced Systems. Prior to Merced, he held executive positions at Microsoft, Groove Networks, Inktomi, and Parametric Technology. He has driven growth at 3 companies that were ultimately acquired: Merced Systems, Groove Networks, and Inktomi. Jim holds a BS Dual Major in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
