Sumo Logic and Amazon Web Services Build on Existing Relationship to Help Organizations Like The Pokemon Company Intl. Get Deeper Operational and Security Insights Across Modern Applications and Cloud Environments
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Nov. 26, 2018 – Today at AWS re:Invent 2018, Sumo Logic, a leading cloud-native, machine data analytics platform that delivers continuous intelligence, and Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) announced a series of innovations and solutions gleaned from serving tens of thousands of cloud-first users, including companies such as AirBnB, Hearst Corporation, Hudl, Infor, Major League Baseball, Marriott, Medidata, Samsung SmartThings, The Pokemon Company International, Thomson Reuters and USA TODAY NETWORK to provide real-time operational and security insights across their modern applications and cloud environments.
As part of today’s announcement, Sumo Logic has selected AWS as its preferred cloud provider to continue to develop new solutions to help companies build, run and secure modern applications with deeper collaboration around operational and security analytics, as well as comprehensive global availability of AWS. Leveraging modern architectural principles, such as microservices and multi-tenancy, enables Sumo Logic to provide customers with an innovative licensing model so they can harness the value of all their machine data.
Securing the Cloud-First Business
Traditional security analytics tools, built to serve specific silos, are not optimal to effectively manage security and compliance within the modern DevSecOps organization. New cloud-native solutions help by providing highly scalable and accelerated detection and investigation for the rapidly evolving and expanding challenges of cloud environments. Such solutions further enhance visibility into microservice-based applications using containerization, serverless or those running in a perimeter-less cloud environment. Building on the announcements from Sumo Logic to deliver a new cloud SIEM solution to democratize security analytics across traditional IT and new cloud models like DevSecOps, now customers can leverage the security data streams on AWS in a single machine data analytics solution – AWS CloudTrail, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) Flow Logs, among others – as well as security data generated by applications and users. Additionally, Sumo Logic has launched a new MSSP and system integrator program with AWS.
Leveraging Cloud Economics to Remove the Data Tax
Enterprises are pushing to deliver digital experiences to their customers through high-performance applications, which produce exponentially growing amounts of machine data as the ubiquity and proliferation of computational power and network connectivity facilitates code execution on virtually every device. Digital businesses rely on data generated by their applications to deliver products and services to customers, secure their data and innovate faster than competitors. However, exponential data growth creates a challenge with collecting, storing and analyzing that data with traditional one-size-fits-all licensing models that create a data tax for organizations.
To match price to analytics value, Sumo Logic is announcing new additions to its existing and proven Cloud Flex licensing model that disrupts the economics of data analytics by providing customers with maximum flexibility to align data consumption with analytics use cases. In addition to its Cloud Flex Continuous and Cloud Flex Frequent licensing tiers, Sumo Logic will provide a new Cloud Flex Infrequent data set tier that adds support for ingesting and storing AWS data sets that are occasionally analyzed. These flexible licensing options will allow all organizations of all sizes to optimize their machine data analytics budgets and align price to the value of the analytics derived from the data.
Investing in Comprehensive Global Regional Persistence to Support Data Sovereignty
One of the many benefits of running on AWS is the ability to globalize solutions with minimal effort. However, global scalability involves particular customer considerations such as data sovereignty and location-specific privacy and regulatory issues. Sumo Logic, acting as global data steward, is providing a machine data analytics solution, designed to meet the requirements where a given application and/or business is operating. Sumo Logic running on AWS is working to bring innovative, customized solutions for compliance and privacy, globally.
