Simnang Chooses Sumo Logic to Monitor PCI Compliance and Deliver Best and Most Secure Loan Servicing Experiences to Customers

Loan Lifecycle Software Provider Relies on Machine Data Analytics to Maintain Critical PCI Standards and Provide Business Intelligence Required for Optimal Decision-Making

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – July 19, 2018 – Sumo Logic, the leading cloud-native, machine data analytics platform that delivers continuous intelligence, today announced Simnang, a trusted provider of loan lifecycle software, has selected Sumo Logic as its centralized machine data analytics platform to maintain critical Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) compliance and deliver the best and most secure customer experiences.

Simnang produces the best loan-servicing software on the market with automated communication and payment features, as well as an online wallet that keeps customer payment data secure in accordance with PCI DSS. The Simnang family of products grew from lenders' needs for solutions that combine flexible modern technologies like multi-tenant cloud-native and serverless computing, with hardware, lending expertise and a deep understanding of business operations. Simnang also offers a single API that gives customers access to a whole host of services, allowing merchants to both integrate Simnang’s technology into their own software while also benefiting from Simnang’s full suite of features.

Merchants outsourcing transmission, processing or storage of payment card data to a third-party provider are required to verify that the provider adheres to PCI standards. Previously, each of Simnang’s applications processed payments individually and struggled with preserving PCI compliance across web and Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers. Its options were to build compliance and auditing dashboards manually, which could take up to six months, or partner with a trusted third-party vendor like Sumo Logic that offers pre-built and customizable solutions and around the clock support.

“When customers use our products, they can always count on three things: the latest technology, meticulous security and unparalleled support,” said Cesar Olea, director of software development, Simnang. “Maintaining PCI compliance is necessary in order to build and maintain merchant trust, and Sumo Logic is the backbone of this initiative. We previously relied on a team of four people who were entirely dedicated to manually sifting through data to identify compliance indicators for months every time an audit rolled around. Now with Sumo Logic, we simply open up our dashboard and have a complete view of our status as well as compliance checklists available at our fingertips in seconds. It’s made my team’s lives so much easier and allowed them to focus on other initiatives they enjoy!”

While Simnang initially evaluated Sumo Logic to monitor for PCI compliance of its payment processor application, it quickly uncovered an entirely different use case. Simnang found that not only can Sumo Logic offer insight into overall platform health and security in order to maintain PCI compliance, but it also provides business intelligence through customizable dashboards to optimize performance and drive decision making.

“We’re now using machine data insights to understand how clients are using different services and gain access to other trending data on loan requests to better understand our business,” Olea said. “In addition to servicing our compliance needs, Sumo Logic has grown with us and enables us to sustain the support our customers deserve and expect. Even our CEO leverages unique Sumo Logic dashboards for insights into our platform prior to making crucial business decisions.”

Sumo Logic is the industry’s benchmark for delivering a secure platform for real-time machine data analytics. Built on top of the secure AWS infrastructure, the cloud-native service delivers the industry’s highest security and compliance measures to protect customer data, including attestation of HIPAA compliance; SOC 2, and Type 2 attestation. Sumo Logic also complied with the PCI DSS 3.2 service provider level one standards in accordance with the original deadline (June 30, 2016), receiving validation from a third-party expert, Coalfire.

"At Sumo Logic, we do more than advise our customers on security and compliance best practices, we live and breathe it every day ourselves," said Jen Brown, compliance and data protection officer, Sumo Logic. "Our platform was built with a security-by-design approach, meaning we implement the latest security and compliance tools and best practices across our production, test and Q.A. environments. Similarly, Simnang’s core business centers on delivering a top-notch customer experience, and providing the best and most secure lending experience possible. This shared spirit makes for a natural pairing and we look forward to continuing to help them deliver on that mission.”
