Sumo Logic Announces Integration with VMware vFabric™ Application Director

Cloud-Based Log Management and Analytics Service Transforms Machine Data into Operational Insights in Real-Time

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – October 10, 2012 – Sumo Logic, the next-generation log management and analytics company, today announced integration with VMware vFabric™ Application Director, a cloud-enabled application provisioning solution that simplifies how to create and standardize portable application deployment topologies across cloud services. Sumo Logic is integrated with VMware vFabric Application Director so that customers creating application deployment topologies can, with a click of a button, include Sumo Logic into their applications, regardless of whether they run in a public, private or hybrid VMware-powered cloud. This enables VMware customers to use Sumo Logic to collect and analyze machine data generated by their applications, operating systems, networks, and VMware infrastructure in order to ensure those applications run and perform optimally. Sumo Logic enables enterprise IT professionals to search, visualize and analyze their machine data in real time to enable application and infrastructure troubleshooting and monitoring within dynamic virtual environments. Eliminating the need for on-premise log management solutions, Sumo Logic delivers a petabyte-scale cloud platform that provides companies with immediate access to valuable operational insights from machine data in real time. Additionally, Sumo Logic delivers a streamlined and simple solution for collecting, managing and analyzing machine data from VMware infrastructure. According to Gartner, Inc., new ideas are emerging that will replace traditional monitoring approaches with a more granular data collection layer in the attempt to isolate and understand root causes more rapidly. These emerging monitoring platforms, many of which are cloud-based and software as a service (SaaS) delivered, are designed with a big data storage and processing back end. With the ability to analyze and process much larger sets of data, additional IT operations analytics patterns are feasible. These require a shift in the way monitoring is currently engineered and implemented.* The core innovation of the Sumo Logic log management and analytics service is the company's patent-pending LogReduce™ technology, which uses real-time forensics to reduce millions of log lines into a manageable set of patterns that enable IT teams to quickly identify and resolve operational issues. It is also powered by the patent-pending Elastic Log Processing™ technology, a petabyte-scale index and search platform designed specifically for Big Data volumes, allowing it to far surpass the scalability of on-premise solutions. By collecting all machine data and storing it for an unlimited amount of time, Sumo Logic's powerful algorithms can notify IT teams proactively with push notifications and improve overall IT posture and service levels. “In today's cloud era, organizations are looking for a better approach to accelerate application deployment across cloud environments,” said Sheryl Sage, director, Alliance Programs, VMware. “With our ecosystem of partners, we are providing our customers with a wide selection of ready-to-deploy applications and infrastructure products, and we are pleased to have Sumo Logic in the VMware Cloud Application Marketplace.” “We are pleased to be a part of the VMware vFabric™ Application Director ecosystem,” said Vance Loiselle, president and CEO of Sumo Logic. “Sumo Logic's integration with VMware environments revolutionizes the way VMware customers manage their machine data, transforming VMware logs, events and performance data into operational insights in real-time without adding any of the additional overhead required from on-premise solutions.” *Gartner, Inc., How Enterprises Can Avoid Event Management Overload, Jonah Kowall, February 15, 2012.
