Machine data intelligence leader gains explosive customer and bookings growth and now leverages increased AWS services to process more than 4.5 quadrillion logs
REDWOOD CITY, CA – November 11, 2014 – Sumo Logic, the next generation
machine data intelligence company, today announced an expanded partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company now utilizes four AWS regions and twelve different AWS Availability Zones to provide greater performance and resiliency to its mission-critical cloud service. All data is replicated six times to assure fault tolerance of enterprise data.
“Sumo Logic has made a significant investment in architecting its service to benefit from the AWS platform to deliver a highly resilient service,” said Tim Grieser of IDC.
According to IDC, “Public IT cloud services spending will reach $56.6 billion in 2014 and grow to more than $127 billion in 2018.” At the same time,
according to industry analyst firm IDC, the amount of machine data ingested by services such as Sumo Logic is expected to grow 15 times by 2020. Sumo Logic’s growth has far exceeded industry trends. Year-over-year, the Sumo Logic customer base has grown more than 200 percent and bookings have increased by 500 percent.
Explosive Service Growth With AWS
The expanding infrastructure partnership with AWS has enabled Sumo Logic to process more than 4.5 quadrillion logs in the past two years alone, while currently adding 14 trillion more logs each day. This has enabled new customers with enterprise machine data needs to rapidly deploy the Sumo Logic service.
“We selected Sumo Logic and were able to deploy a two terabyte/day log stream into production in just one week,” said Sean Knapp, founder of
Ooyala. “The Sumo Logic service enables us to rapidly make data-driven decisions to improve our fast-growing and innovative video technology service."
In July 2014, AWS named Sumo Logic a Big Data Competency Partner, and the company announced integration with AWS CloudTrail in November 2013. As a thought leader in the AWS community, Sumo Logic Co-Founder and CTO Christian Beedgen will present “How Sumo Logic and Anki Build Highly Resilient Services on AWS to Manage Massive Usage Spikes” on Nov. 12 at AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas.
Sumo Logic Seizes Huge Market Opportunity
The IT industry is transforming as enterprises either adopt cloud deployments like AWS outright or settle for hybrid deployments. The new workloads associated with these deployments emit massive amounts of machine data and rely on real-time data analytics to deliver on their uptime service level agreements.
"Capturing and analyzing critical data is essential for us to develop market -leading smart devices that promote fitness and wellness,” said Binh Nguyen, data engineer at
Misfit Wearables. “After trying and testing alternatives, we invested in the Sumo Logic service because it perfectly complements our AWS infrastructure, scales on-demand to provide operational and security insights and delivers unbeatable performance by reducing average time to complete troubleshooting tasks from several minutes to a few seconds."
Sumo Logic’s multi-tenant cloud service is uniquely positioned to scale as it can connect with a wide range of cloud services as well as having application specific collectors behind the firewall.
“As the industry has transformed for rampant enterprise cloud adoption, Sumo Logic is the only true cloud-native analytics platform to meet the growing market demand from any sized company using AWS. Sumo Logic is purpose built for vast amounts of machine-generated data and supports both traditional apps as well as the next generation of application containers and DevOps,” said Christian Beedgen, co-founder and CTO of Sumo Logic. “Our partnership with AWS is geared to help any customer on AWS to make their own services better every day.”
