Sumo Logic Joins Entertainment Merchants Association to Extend Value of Machine Data Intelligence to Entertainment Industry

REDWOOD CITY, CA – September 3, 2014 – Sumo Logic, the next generation machine data intelligence company, today announced it has joined the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) to share best practices and discuss the business implications of machine data analytics within the entertainment industry. Sumo Logic’s patented LogReduce™ and Anomaly Detection technologies have helped companies such as Netflix, Scripps Networks, GREE and SuperCell in providing real-time insights that ensure their IT infrastructures continue to deliver high-quality content to subscribers and other end users. EMA is the not-for-profit international trade association dedicated to advancing the interests of the $40 billion home entertainment industry. “One of our fastest growing customer segments include media, entertainment and retail companies,” said Mark Musselman, vice president, business development, Sumo Logic. “Our unique approach to uncovering insights make Sumo Logic a natural fit for companies seeking to optimize their infrastructure to deliver better services to end users. Our work with the EMA will allow us to learn about the most relevant data analytics issues facing their members today.” The unmatched scalability and flexibility of the Sumo Logic service make it possible for media-focused businesses to monitor and ultimately optimize their streaming services as demand from consumers can change dynamically. In an industry where content is on-demand and available 24x7, traditional monitoring systems are often insufficient in managing this avalanche of data and minimizing the threat of customer churn. As so many of the EMA’s members have embraced streaming content, these monitoring capabilities are crucial to provide consumers with quality service. The Sumo Logic service identifies anomalous patterns and provides DevOps teams and IT departments with real-time alerts allowing them to instantly respond to real-time changes in consumer behavior, potential security breaches or even system failures. Companies can minimize or eliminate entirely the lengthy downtime and interruption that would result from application failures or inefficiencies going undetected. “We welcome Sumo Logic to EMA and look forward to their active involvement in our initiatives to promote a healthy and vibrant industry and our industry forums,” said Mark Fisher, President & CEO, EMA. “Their deep experience with many entertainment and retail customers and their understanding of how companies are trying to scale their businesses will provide welcome perspectives to the association.”
